concreteEvery building project requires the use of concrete. Bruns Building and Development offers experience and expertise with concrete foundation and flatwork placement. We also frequently use a relatively new product called Autoclaved Aerated Concrete or AAC. It contains 80% air and is made with fine aggregates, cement, and an expansion agent that works like yeast in bread dough. It creates air bubbles and allows the cement mixture to rise. When it’s cured, the material is then molded and cut into AAC blocks and panels.

The process results in a unique product that offers structural capability and insulation in one material that can be used for walls, floors, and roofs. The construction process creates an airtight envelope that cuts down on air loss and can create savings huge savings in heating and cooling costs when compared to conventional construction.

AAC Concrete is unlimited in its uses. It works for both exterior and interior walls, and you can still have traditional stone, stucco, and siding exterior finishes. This product has an excellent 4-hour fire resistance rating and tests for an 8 hour burn. This innovative material also resists rot, mold, mildew and insects. It has high sound reinforcement from both outside and inside, provided that AAC is being used in interior walls as well. Make sure you ask about using AAC in your project.
